After about a week of tearing my hair out, I turn to you for help, dear readers. Anyone wants to take a gander at what lipstick she's wearing? It's an intriguing in-between shade. Red with some pink and, to my eye, a bit of orange? It looks like it's matte but may be a regular formula and blotted/worn for several hours.

ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the shade that Kat Von D's Adora lipstick is when I blot it, although I don't see the the metallic finish in this photo. It's a lovely shade, let us know what it is if you find out!

Revlon Strawberry Suede looks like that on me! As someone said above, it is dc'd. You can get it on ebay cheap though. :)

Fleurs-de-Lisa- Thanks for the major search! Party Parrot is way too pink :( and so is MAC Impassioned. MUFE #37 is a light pink peach to my eye. So far the closest I've seen is Chanel RAV La Ravissante, but I hate that formula. I might still check it out, though.

So beautiful! I wish I had her lip shape! I spot some orange as well. I agree with people saying NARS Heat Wave. It definitely looks matte though.

Maybe it's a lipliner or a lipliner + lipstick. Here are some suggestions: Lancome Red Haute, Revlon Strawberry Suede, and perhaps MAC Lady Danger. Let us know what it turns out to be. I'm curious. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteMan, I looked through as much of Magdalena's thread on The Fashion Spot to try to find when this picture was taken, because it looks like this candid was taken on the street after a show (and perhaps if it was makeup from the show, they may have had a release on what makeup was used).

I had fun with this, and went through my stash. The closest thing I have is Hourglass's Muse (it's a little more pink and slightly lighter tint than Nars Heat Wave, but very close to it).
ReplyDeleteBut with differences in monitors, lighting, skin tones, lip pigment...you could probably mix a similar color with a few vaguely similar lippies--orange onto a pinker base?

ReplyDeleteHow can anyone identify a lipstick from a photo? It's truly mind boggling to me. Color show up so differently on people with different skin tones, lighting, layered color, etc... Swatches of the same lipstick on Temptalia's blog (on her lips and skin) look so different than swatches on your lips and skin posted on your blog. And. then there's lip pigmentation to consider.
ReplyDeleteWhich brings me to a huge pet peeve. I hate when bloggers say they have dark pigmented lips when their lips are naturally pretty pink. If they want to see dark pigmented lips, I need to email them a photo of my naturally dark, brown lips.
I hope you find a match of this color for your lips/skin. Truly, I do.

That photo is stunning, as is the woman. Her lipstick color looks exactly the way Laura Mercier Créme Lipstick in Mistress looked on me, but I believe that was a limited edition color.
ReplyDeleteI was able to buy Revlon Strawberry Suede on Amazon.com. It's OK. On me, it's way more vibrant/candy pink than that warm rosy pink looks on the woman in the photo.
Another one to consider is Lipstick Queen Rose Sinner. It's a matte pink red. Barney's should have it.

ReplyDeleteOf course, this is all in good fun. :) I don't have to have the exact same lipstick she's wearing - in fact, whatever she's actually wearing would probably look different on me. I was just so inspired by this particular color since I don't have anything like that in my stash and would like to be able to find one that is the same or similar to it.
I also believe her SKIN - the smoothness, the contouring/highlighting, the general flawlessness - is so worth emulating!

Maybe Topshop lipstick in Coral Blush would provide the pinky orange, layered with any scarlet red underneath? It really is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am almost sure that this lippie is Dior Ara Red 999. This pic was taken after Dior shows. I have this lippie and half an hour after you put it on it fades in to a pink red. Hope this helps!

ReplyDeleteDear Xiao, you've obviously moved on wayyyyy past this entry, but I can confirm that, as someone already pointed out, the photo was taken after Dior S/S 2012, and the lipstick worn by the models is a mix of Rouge Dior Ara Red and Rouge Diorific Roulette Red. I believe the lighting has made her lips look more coral/pink than they actually are, so you might find the real combination unsatisfying...
