Fingerprints. This is why I hate gold packaging
It seems like it's been awhile since our last red-red feature, so I pulled out all the stops for today. I've been saving Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Ultra #190 for when I really need drama, because it's just so unabashedly loud. Why do I think so? Is it the blueness? Or that tinge of berry? For some reason, this lipstick screams "I'm red! I'm red!" at you (I don't know if I make sense here. Undoubtedly all red lipsticks are striking, but some are more so than others, you know?). The only equivalent I could think of is Guerlain Rouge G Garconne, which leans warm when compared to Ultra.

By the way, I had my first post-chop trim today. I showed my hair stylist a photo of Faye Wong circa Chungking Express and I promise you, he was beside himself with glee. Even with what little hair left on my head the floor around me looked like a fuzzy carpet. My hair – it is so so so short now, but I love it. Do you see how much makeup I can put on and still look underdone?
Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Ultra #190 retails for $30 and is exclusively available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Ahhh wish we got D&G here, because I'm really looking for a blue-red that will actually look like a blue-red on me! Just ordered Hourglass Icon, and I really hope that'll do the trick!
ReplyDeleteYour hair is really really chic. I agree that gives you the liberty to play your makeup up without looking too much. Way go to Xiao!
I absolutely love that color! a bit pricey for me, but its gorgeous! looks amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteHi! I like your newest hairstyle even better than the last! So daring yet feminin... And i get what you mean with the red color of this lipstick - perfektly classic bordering on vampy ;)
ReplyDeleteI love reds like this. And I love your hairstyle! I don't have the guts to do it though. The shortest was a bob, that's it.
ReplyDeleteDO IT LILY! :D
Deleteohh, that's of the D&G lipsticks I wanted, good that it is on my wish list already. I heard mixed reviews on those but I still want it, they have some amazing reds and vamps in their collection. / Claire

I love your hair, Wandz. It's so fresh! I want to do SOMETHING with my hair, but am not sure what. Uggggggghhh.
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought of a frosty eye with red lips, but you make it look so damn good.
Your hair is amazing! Faye Wong was a really inspired pixie cut inspiration. Also, this is my favorite kind of red-red, so I find myself horribly tempted by this one... My reds and berries collection doesn't exactly need another new recruit, though.
ReplyDeleteYour pixie hairrr! I love how your new shorter cute really flatters your feminine features. The red lip with your 'do is a perfect pairing.
ReplyDeleteYes, this hair definitely suits you better! It's all about finding the right length and cut when it comes to pixies! You look too cute!
ReplyDeleteOMG, who cares about the lipstick, your hair looks AWESOME!! I so wish I could carry off that look, but it is just perfect for you. When you first got your hair chopped I was a bit sad but THIS...This is just gorgeous! Beautiful Wandz =)
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous with a pixie cut! Wish I had the guts to do that. Oh, and this post made me want to buy yet another red lipstick. :)

ReplyDeleteDear Xiao,
ReplyDeleteAs I read your post and noted your photos, I thought to myself, "She's getting more confident with the amount of makeup she applies"- but I only noticed that, I didn't correlate it to your new short hair. I is something, though!! Love it so much and envy you a lot! This shade of lipstick is gorgeous, too. Thank you for the post and Happy Thanksgiving. xoxo Beth in Pgh ;-)
Love the lipstick and the hair.
ReplyDeleteIt seem so dark and is so light
ReplyDeleteI love Chungking Express and watched it ad nauseum while I was at uni... I have to watch it again! I couldn't get enough of the sights of gritty HK, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Tony Leung.
ReplyDeleteYes, Faye Wong had the ultimate pixie do in that movie. Good choice! ;-)
I love DG lipsticks, unfortunately I cant get more because of course they r not available in France.
ReplyDeleteI admire your confidence, I had long to hip hair since I remember and for me big step was to cutting it to waist! :)

ReplyDeleteI definitely feel you on the shiny gold packaging. It makes me want to scream sometimes. And wear gloves while shooting. Ah yes, and the lipstick. It looks beautiful on you, as all reds somehow do! And I'm loving the even shorter hair :) Almost makes me want to chop it all off....almost.
ReplyDeleteI've been searching for a deep blue red for ages... This might be it. Need to check it out. Thanks for the review! You're gorgeous! xx
